NAME
xlrem - login reminders program for X11
SYNOPSIS
xlrem [toolkit-options] [options] xlrem-admin [toolkit-options]
[options]
DESCRIPTION
xlrem Displays messages in a Motif dialog. There are two types of
messages personal and system. You can use xlrem-admin program to
manage these two files. It's good if you want to remind yourself
something next time you log in. So it's best used in the .Xclients or
.xsession. It can also be used by sysadmins if they want to have a
nice Motif dialog box display the daily messages and news to users.
xlrem-admin allows you to add/edit/delete/view the reminders file. It
will show a list of reminders and a menu of possible actions. The list
has the first 79 characters of the reminder in it, without newlines
(but that should be enough for you to know which reminder you are
looking at). Use the edit menu to add/delete/edit items in the list!
Start it with the -system option to edit system reminders.
If you feel like you have to edit the files with a text editor, then:
The files are regular textfiles with one reminder per line. If you
need more then one line for a reminder, instead of newlines enter ^A
(ASCII 1) character into the file. (In most editors enter ^V^A)
OPTIONS
Options can be set as resources with the same name but capitalized.
xlrem has following options: If -verbose is set then it will complain
if there are no messages. The -nosystem -nopersonal options tell the
program not to display messages of that type.
xlrem-admin has the following options: If -system is set you will edit
the system reminders instead of the personal reminders. If you don't
have the write permissions to the system file it will complain.
BUGS
There are no bugs, just features:) ... If you think a particular
"feature" is very annoying, contact me at: jirka@5z.com or look for a
newer version of xlrem at http://www.5z.com/jirka/
