ROXANNE is an X Window simulator of 1, 2 and 3 dimensional Kohonen
self-organizing maps. ROXANNE has been tested on a Sun3 running SunOS 4.0,
Sun4 running SunOS 4.1, an Iris running IRIX 4.0 and a DECStation 5000
running Ultrix 4.2. You are free to modify the code. If you do anything
interesting, please send the modifications.

Building xhm
------------
type `xmkmf'
This should build a Makefile specific to your machine then...
type `make'
If this gives you errors, see your system administrator, or
try copying Makefile.dist to Makefile then...
type `make'
If no errors occur you are done and can now run xhm.
If you have a DECStation uncomment the line specified in Makefile.dist
and copy it to Makefile and
type `make'

Running xhm
-----------
type `xhm'
Two windows should appear. The first window, the command panel,
should have everything nicely placed in orderly columns. If this
is not the case
type `xrdb -merge Xhm.ad'
to set the font to the correct size and rerun xhm. You may wish
to change the background and foreground colors. Consult online
help for further instruction.
