A script for installing software packages
Stow manages installed software packages by keeping them separate keeping them separate while softlinking then so they can appear to be in the same place. There is no danger of mangling directories. Stow will never delete any files, directories, or links that appear in a Stow directory, so it's always possible to rebuild the target tree

There are run-time dependencies that need to be installed first. Why not use depothelper to install them all in one go?
