To compile the GNOME socket libraries, as a minimum you must install:

	- GNOME libs				; gnome-config --version

	   ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/gnome-libs

Moreover, one of the following libraries is strongly recommended:

	- ares library 1.0.0   (recommended)

	   ftp://athena-dist.mit.edu/pub/ATHENA/ares/ares-1.0.0.tar.gz

        - GNU adns 0.6

	   http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~ian/adns/

Please note that GNU adns is distributed under the GPL license. If you plan
to use gnome-socket for non-GPL programs you should consider using ares instead.
